Neil Patrick Harris on "epic" Tony plans and turning 40
(CBS News) Neil Patrick Harris is emerging as the entertainment world's go-to awards show host. The"How I Met Your Mother" star was recently announced as the host of of the 2013 Emmy Awards, set to air on CBS on Sept. 22.
"I couldn't be more honored and excited," Harris said of the Emmy gig. But coming up first, Harris is busy preparing for the 67th annual Tony Awards on June 9. It will be his fourth time hosting the Tonys, which honors the best of Broadway.
Harris told the "CBS This Morning" co-hosts he has suffered a few bumps and bruises this week as he prepares for what he calls a "pretty epic" show-opener for the awards ceremony.
"Yesterday was a pretty physical day," he said on Thursday, explaining that his role in the opening act "involves a lot of rehearsing with a lot of people...which causes physical duress."
Harris is also the executive producer of the awards show, a job he took on because he "just wanted the credit," he joked, adding "I wanted to have a little more creative control.

Despite his busy work life, Harris told "CTM" his life at home -- with "two kids and a great fiance" -- is "super great" and he dismissed any mid-life anxiety about his upcoming 40th birthday on June 15.
"I'm busier than I've ever been. 'How I Met Your Mother' is still going strong. Life is really great at 40 so it would seem really weird and pretentious to just decide that that age meant something."
