Neighbors "shocked" by double shooting deaths near Florida golf club
Tallahassee, FL Neighbors have spoken about the "shocking" deaths of two women found fatally shot near a Florida golf course.
The bodies of the two female victims were discovered in a grassy area between a Tallahassee apartment complex and Hilaman Golf Course, Tuesday evening.
Golfers playing at the course heard two gunshots around 5pm and went to see what happened. They found the women's bodies.
"When I heard what happened, I just walked around because the back end of the golf course here and then I saw the deceased and it just stopped me in my place," neighbor Ray Parsons told WCTV.
Parson said he had not heard of incidents like this happening in the past and wishes there was something he could have done to prevent it.
"It made me feel sad because she is lying on the ground and there's nothing she could do for herself ... and that's kind of shocking," he said.
Randria Walker, who has lived in the apartment complex for 4 months, said she was asleep when the shooting happened. She said she is now considering moving. "I was in shock because it's so quiet out here."
Leon County Sheriff's Office spokesman Lt. James McQuaig said the golfers who found the bodies called 911 and waited for police.
He said the golfers didn't see anyone fleeing after the shots rang out.
The names of the victims have not been released and McQuaig didn't have their ages.
"We are continuing to investigate. We're in the very early stages of this investigation, but we are treating it accordingly," he said.
Police are "canvassing the neighborhood, conducting witness interviews and crime scene detectives are on scene and they are collective forensic evidence."
Autopsies on the victims were scheduled for Wednesday, he said.
