Water pollution can give beachgoers all sets of ailments, including diarrhea, rashes, pinkeye, hepatitis, and respiratory infection. Waterborne illnesses even prove lethal for people with weak immune systems, including senior citizens and kids.

The National Resources Defense Council tested water from over 3,000 beaches nationwide to come up with its 21st annual beachwater quality report. It picked 10 repeat offenders with "persistent contamination problems."
