Cops: Shooting near Nationals Park in D.C. leaves one wounded
WASHINGTON, D.C. - A shooting near Nationals Park in Washington, D.C. left one wounded Tuesday morning, police say.
Police who responded to the shooting outside the Southeast Washington baseball stadium just after 10 a.m. found a man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, Washington Metropolitan Police spokeswoman Karina Bilal told Crimesider. The victim was conscious and breathing, she said.
A witness told CBS affiliate WUSA9 the man was shot in the face. The shooting reportedly happened as hundreds were lined up for interviews during a park job fair.
There have been no arrests so far. Authorities say they’re searching for a man who is about 19 or 20 years old and stands about five feet, three inches tall. Police say the man was wearing a light tan puffy coat and a gray knit hat. He was last seen jumping into a black Impala, the station reports.
