Nate Berkus and Jeremiah Brent are engaged
TV personality and interior designer Nate Berkus and Jeremiah Brent, his boyfriend of eight and a half months, are making things official.
A rep for the couple confirmed to Us Weekly, that they're engaged to be married. Berkus, 41, reportedly popped the question while atop Machu Picchu in Peru on Monday. Brent was apparently completely blown over by the proposal (luckily, not actually), as the couple were traveling for Berkus' job. They were on a shopping trip for One Kings Lane for a designer sale project Berkus is working on for the site.
Berkus had his own TV program, "The Nate Berkus Show," that aired from 2010 to 2012, and has suffered his share of loss; his longtime partner, Fernando Bengoechea, was killed when the couple were vacationing during the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami.
Brent, who is Rachel Zoe's former assistant, lives in L.A., while Berkus is based in New York, but the pair split their time between the two coasts. And planning a wedding will add to Berkus' already full schedule, which includes running a successful line of home goods at Target, designing, and adding the title of author to his list of accomplishments -- he released the book, "The Things That Matter," last October.
Though planning his nuptials will likely be his top priority -- and his engagement certainly set the bar (literally) high.
