Mt. Rainier offers a sunrise to remember
We can get into non-ending bar debates about which part of the country enjoys the most gorgeous sunrises, but this shot taken of Mt. Rainier at dawn is just, well, spactacular.
As astronomer Phil Plait of Bad Astronomy correctly notes, this picture's splendor was accentuated by the fact that at over 14,000 feet, Mt. Rainier is basically by its lonesome with no other mountains of comparable height in the region competing for attention This photo catches a point in the morning where the sun plays off the peak, casting a wonderful shadow on the underside of the clouds. Simply stunning. But check out other similarly striking pictures of Mt. Rainier at dawn on the KOMO news website.
