Morgan Freeman drawn to "Oblivion" by Tom Cruise
Tom Cruise certainly hasn't faded into "Oblivion."
The actor and his co-stars drew a large crowd of photographers and fans at the film's Hollywood premiere Wednesday night.
The apocalyptic action flick is based on a graphic novel from the film's director, Joseph Kosinski, whose past credits include "Tron: Legacy."
"Oblivion" is set 60 years after a catastrophic war with an alien race, which forced humanity to abandon Earth. Cruise plays a repo man sent to Earth to scavenge resources, where he quickly discovers that all may not be as it appears. The 50-year-old actor was filming the sci-fi flick at the time that Katie Holmes left him.
Morgan Freeman co-stars as the leader of a secret human underground movement left behind on Earth.
At the film's premiere, Freeman revealed that a big factor in taking the role was getting the chance to work with Cruise.
"That was one great, great draw for the project," Freeman said on the red carpet, "I've been wanting to work with him since I don't know when. I'm a big fan of his. A big, big fan."
Cruise also spoke on the red carpet about the film and his character, watch video above to see the movie star at the premiere.
"Oblivion" opens in theaters on April 19.
