Monica Joins The War On Fat
Monica Lewinsky is the high-profile television pitchwoman for a diet plan.
The former Bill Clinton squeeze will appear in commercials for Jenny Craig Inc. The New York Times reports her appearance is part of a $7.2 million advertising campaign that will include ads on network and cable television as well as the Internet.
The woman called the "portly pepperpot" by one New York newspaper, has waged a well-publicized fight against fat since her Oval Office affair with the president made her a national celebrity.
A company statement said that Lewinsky has been a member of Jenny Craig since this past summer and added the low carb option in late November. The company said it hopes that by sharing Lewinsky's weight-loss history with the public, others will identify with her daily struggle to control her eating and weight issues.
In the ads, the former White House intern describes a lifelong struggle with her weight and goes on to claim that she's lost 31 pounds on the Jenny Craig plan. 
The commercials feature before and after photos of Lewinsky.
The Times was unable to confirm reports that Lewinsky would be paid $1 million if she lost 60 pounds. A Jenny Craig spokeswoman declined to disclose how much Lewinsky was being paid.
The commercials are scheduled to begin airing on Sunday.
Yet Lewinsky is not the only one to change her image. CBS affiliate WCBS-TV in New York reports that Linda Tripp, Lewinsky's former White House phone pal, is sporting a new look.
Based on a National Enquirer report, the New York Post wrote that Tripp last summer underwent substantial cosmetic surgery, including a nose job, chin tuck, neck reduction, facial peel and liposuction. In addition, Tripp shed 40 pounds and plans to trim 20 more.
According to a friend, Tripp wanted to look beyond reproach by the pundits in time for her trial early next year when she'll face charges for taping phone calls to Lewinsky.
Tripp's defense fund has confirmed she had surgery.
