The exhibit, "Grace Kelly: Style Icon," was devoted to the Oscar-winning actress and Monegasque princess, who died in a 1982 car crash. Charlene married Kelly's only son, Prince Albert II, in a weekend of nuptial festivities in July.

Children waving Australian and Monegasque flags welcomed the princess outside the museum, where she gave a speech and took a tour.

Wearing a dusty rose dress with silver trim by Australian designer Johanna Johnson, Princess Charlene paid tribute to Kelly, not only as a style icon, but also as a loving mother and patroness of the arts.

The Grace Kelly exhibit is expected to draw millions into the gallery.
