Mitt Romney is still campaigning against Obama

It's been nearly two years since 2012 GOP nominee Mitt Romney lost to President Obama, but the former Massachusetts governor is still using him as a target on the campaign trail.

In Iowa to campaign for Republican Senate candidate Joni Ernst, Romney took the president to task for his policies, according to Des Moines, Iowa, CBS affiliate KCCI, arguing that he has failed to lower insurance premiums or improve schools and has shrunk the military.

Romney also told a lengthy joke about the president after noting, "They say if you're running for office you shouldn't tell jokes. But I'm not running for office."

It was also a subtle reminder that despite some chatter among his supporters about a third bid for the White House, Romney says he's not running again.

He praised Ernst as "an extraordinary breath of fresh air" and "a person of unprecedented character and ability" before the crowd of about 150 supporters,according to the Des Moines Register.

"I can't wait until she goes there and makes them squeal, can you?" Romney said, a reference to Ernst's infamous ad in which she reflected on her time castrating hogs while growing up on a farm.

Romney also followed in the footsteps of first lady Michelle Obama, who flubbed the name of Ernst's opponent, Rep. Bruce Braley, D-Iowa, when she campaigned for him last week, repeatedly mispronouncing his last name as "Bailey."

"I know that Iowa voted for President Obama twice, but Iowa is not going vote for Bill Braley and vote for him a third time, that's for sure," Romney said, according to the Register.
