Miguel Iniguez, second LAX employee, charged in connection with dry ice explosions

(CBS) LOS ANGELES - A second airport employee was charged Monday in connection with a series of dry ice bombs that detonated at Los Angeles International Airport, reports CBS Los Angeles.

Miguel Iniguez, a 41-year-old supervisor for Servisair, was charged with one felony count of possession of a destructive device near an airplane.

Co-defendant Dicarlo Bennett, 28, was charged last week with two felony counts of possession of a destructive device in a public place.

Iniguez was Bennett's supervisor, officials said.

Prosecutors say Bennett, a ramp supervisor, placed two dry ice bombs near the airport's terminals on Oct. 13. One exploded in an employee restroom in Terminal 2, and a second bomb, which didn't detonate, was placed outside the Tom Bradley International Terminal.

Airport operations were disrupted, but no injuries were reported.

According to police, Bennett planted the devices as a prank and because he was curious to see what would happen.

Iniguez allegedly made a third explosive that detonated outside the Tom Bradley terminal, but caused no injuries.

Iniguez is being held on $500,000 bail - half of Bennett's $1 million. If convicted, Iniguez faces a maximum sentence of six years in county jail.
