Michael Rodney Kane, Los Angeles teacher accused of fatally stabbing wife, arrested after manhunt
(CBS/AP) LOS ANGELES - Los Angeles police have arrested a teacher who allegedly chased down and stabbed his estranged wife to death on a San Fernando Valley street.
Officer Sara Faden says 46-year-old Michael Rodney Kane was arrested in San Bernardino County early Monday. Detective Dave Peteque tells KNX-AM that police kicked in the door of a Joshua Tree motel but Kane didn't resist arrest. He says Kane was treated for injuries that may have occurred during or after the stabbing.
The couple's two children were inside and weren't harmed.
Police said in a statement that officers responding to an assault call found 43-year-old Michelle Ann Kane in the street Saturday. She had been stabbed several times and was pronounced dead by paramedics.
According to CBS Los Angeles, the victim had been staying with a friend since Friday after Kane, her estranged husband, busted out the garage and front door windows of her home.
The mother of two reportedly got a restraining order against her husband after the incident.
Kane allegedly tracked down the victim at her friend's home, broke in and confronted her. When the woman tried to escape, he allegedly stabbed her in the street.
The 46-year-old man has been teacher at the Nestle Avenue Charter Elementary school since 2008.
