Police say Brewer was attacked in October 2009 outside his apartment complex by three teens who allegedly doused him with alcohol and then set him aflame. Michael survived the attack by jumping into a nearby swimming pool.

Brewer who suffered second and third-degree burns over 65% of his body attended his last appointment Monday at Jackson Memorial Hospital's Burn Center in Miami.

According to the victim's grandmother, Brewer, 15, will not need any further treatment unless there is an unforeseen problem.

In April, Brewer made another important step in his recovery - returning to school.

He said he was looking forward to his return and "kind of" missed school; however, he did not return to Deerfield Beach Middle School where he attended, with his alleged attackers, when he was attacked.

Brewer has been an example of strength and courage since the day he was attacked and his doctors said he would be lucky if he ever woke up from his medically induced coma. but he did and hasnt stopped fighting since.

And when, a mere five months after his attack, a fellow Deerfield Beach student, Josie Lou Ratley, was attacked in front of the school he was there by her bedside giving her and her family hope even as she lay in a coma.

The three teenagers accused of participating in the attack on Brewer, Jeremy Jarvis, 15, Matthew Bent, 15, and Jesus Mendez, 16, have been charged as adults and face up to 30 years in prison for second-degree attempted murder.

The motive behind the attack is not certain, but police believe the dispute was over $40 which the victim owed one of the assailants for a video game, or quite possibly because Brewer had called the police the day before to report that one of the teens had tried to steal his father's bike.
