Miami Police Standoff Update: Suspect and victims ID'd; still no motive in murders, deadly crash
(CBS/AP) FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. - A South Florida man who is accused of fatally shooting his ex-girlfriend and her adult daughter on Wednesday and then leading police on a high-speed chase, has been identified as 48-year-old Antonio Feliu.
Authorities said Feliu killed 51-year-old Vivian Gallego Martinez and her daughter, 28-year-old Anabel Benitez, at a Miami home on Wednesday morning and fled.
Officers called in a description of his vehicle and a police helicopter followed Feliu's SUV into rural southwestern Broward County.
During the high-speed chase, Feliu crashed into 48-year-old Maritza Medina's car, killing her.
As deputies approached Feliu's SUV, they heard a gunshot and later discovered that Feliu had killed himself.
According to CBS Miami, police are looking into the status of Feliu's relationship with Martinez in hopes of finding a motive for the tragic events.
Neighbors told the station they believe Medina, a wife and a mother, was driving home after dropping off one of her daughters at school
The investigation is ongoing.
