Melissa Duran, Nevada teen, rescued by police after being kidnapped by two men

17-year-old Melissa Duran Amber Alert

(CBS) HENDERSON, NEV. - Melissa Duran, a Nevada teen,  was happy to be back home with her family and friends after being kidnapped from her home and held for ransom on Friday morning by two men, according to CBS affilate KLAS.

Melissa was getting ready for school during the morning of August 31 when a man came to her front door. She answered the door and he threw sand in her face, grabbed her and began forcing her to his car, Duran told KLAS.

"He was like hitting me, because I was putting up a really big fight," said Melissa Duran. "Then another guy came and tried to scoop me into the car. I just remember I saw my little brother coming out."

Kevin Duran, Melissa's 11-year-old brother, came outside with a baseball bat and attempted to save his sister.

"I was going to try to hit one of the guys," said Kevin Duran. "But, he reached behind his back as if he had a gun and said, 'Don't come closer. Don't call the police.'"

Melissa Duran was then taken to an apartment where she was blindfolded and tied up, police say. He captors demanded ransom money from her parents.

"He would say things like, 'If your dad tries to do anything, we're going to kill him,'" said Melissa. "And, 'We're going to kill you.' And, 'We're going to do things I can't even imagine to you.'"

Melissa told KLAS that it was a terrifying day and night but that she became hopeful when she heard her Amber Alert on television.

"I knew that police were looking for me. That made me feel like, alright, next step," said Melissa.

SWAT officers raided the apartment early Saturday morning and returned Melissa to her family almost 24 hours after police reported her kidnapping.

Alejandro Sanchez and Cesar Sanchez were arrested on several charges including kidnapping and extortion. The two men had recently been fired from jobs at for Melissa' father's landscaping company, members of the Duran family said.

They are both being held without bail in the Henderson Detention Center and are scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday.

As for Melissa, "I'm safe. My family is safe, and that's really all that matters," she told KLAS.
