McNerney Takes Tough Vote On The War
No Democrat took a more politically risky vote last night than Rep. Jerry McNerney (D-Calif.), who voted against the Iraq war funding portion of the supplemental, which passed by a 280-142 margin. 139 other Democrats voted against the measure, as did GOP Reps. John Duncan (Tenn.) and Ron Paul (Texas).
McNerney is one of the National Republican Congressional Committee’s top targets for 2008. He won election in a conservative-leaning district that gave President Bush 54 percent of the vote in 2004.
