If you think the hit sitcom "The Odd Couple" can't get any funnier after its first season, its stars thing you're dead wrong.

Co-stars Matthew Perry and Thomas Lennon promise an even better season when the show premieres its second season Thursday, April 7.

"I say our worst episode this year is better than the best episode last year," Perry told "CBS This Morning" Monday. After a successful first season, Perry said the show"gelled" together as the cast and writing got better.

The new season features guest star Teri Hatcher as Perry's girlfriend, as well as a nude scene of Perry and Lennon, who play roommates Oscar and Felix.

"This is the first, to my knowledge of all "The Odd Couple," this is the first Felix-Oscar nude scene. ... I was very apprehensive about it and it was a very stressful thing. When you know you have a nude scene coming up for months in advance, it's a distressing thing, but it's a great motivator," Lennon said, jokingly.

"The Odd Couple" is a modern twist to an original play by Neil Simon, which was also previously adapted into a movie and sitcom. Last season, it was the number one new comedy, with more than 11 million viewers. Speaking to the show's success, Perry said, "It's a wonderful idea for a play and a movie and a TV show in that it just puts two people who are complete opposites and forces them to be together."

"But also, Thomas works out all the time," Perry added.

Outside the world of television, Perry has also launched his career as a playwright in London, where the first play he ever wrote - about a drunk dealing with addiction -- is being performed at the Playhouse Theater.

"I'm really proud of the play and I'm really happy with the fact that it's getting standing ovations and people really like it," Perry said.
