Massive brawl at Fla. Chuck E. Cheese leads to shooting
(CBS) BOYNTON BEACH, Fla. - A massive brawl broke out during a weekend birthday party at a Chuck E. Cheese restaurant, which led to one person getting shot, CBS Tampa Bay reports.
Authorities say 18 people got into a violent argument on Saturday night during a child's birthday party at a Chuck E. Cheese in Boynton Beach, Fla.
As the brawl escalated, it began spreading outside of the store and into other areas of the community, according to the station.
The Palm Beach Post reports that in the midst of the brawl, 32-year-old Gregory Smith Jr. was shot in the leg while in his car. Police say Smith suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
"We are proud of the swift action by our team to get those involved in the incident outside our store and away from other guests," Michelle Chism, spokeswoman for Chuck E. Cheese told the Sun-Sentinel, "but we are saddened to hear that incident continued in another area of the Boynton Beach community.
While the gunman is still at large, WBPF-TV reports three other people were arrested, including the birthday child's mother.
Briana Walker, Robert Thompson and Alfred Peoples, who allegedly left the restaurant without paying a $300 bill, were arrested on drug charges and defrauding an innkeeper, according to WBPF-TV.
According to Boynton Beach police spokeswoman Stephanie Slater, those three had no involvement in the shooting.
