Mass. Little League concession stand robbed, vandalized
LYNN, Mass.- Police are searching for a suspect who robbed and vandalized a Little League concession stand at a suburban Boston baseball field, reported CBS Boston.
The league discovered the theft and destruction in East Lynn on Monday evening. According to the station, the food was thrown around the floor and the large refrigerator now has to be replaced. The thief broke open the security box and stole $600 in cash.
The station reported that most of the stolen money was allotted for the supplies to paint a mural over previous graffiti. An art group is donating their time to paint the mural.
"I was ticked off to say the least," said League President Julio Polonia told CBS Boston.
A GoFundMe page was created after the league discovered the destruction. In just two days, over $1500 in donations had been made to the team. The East Lynn Little League is one of five in the town of Lynn.
"[It is] satisfying that people are rewarding what we're doing. People realizing it's something the kids need," said Polonia.
There are few leads for the suspect or suspects. One resident told the station she thought she saw a youth running from the building, wearing a backpack.
