S.C. teen who vanished from restaurant found safe
Mt. PLEASANT, S.C. --A Myrtle Beach, S.C. teen missing for nearly a week has been found safe, reports CBS affiliate WBTW.
Marley McKenna Spindler, 16, was located by police around noon Thursday in Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina - about 90 miles south of where she vanished around 7:30 a.m. Aug. 20 from a Myrtle Beach Chick-fil-A.
"She is safe and will be reunited with her family as soon as possible. We are continuing to investigate this case to ensure we have a complete understanding of its facts and circumstances," Horry County Police said in a statement released to the station.
Horry County Police said they have "been working around the clock to find" missing teen. On Tuesday, they released a bank surveillance image of Spindler withdrawing cash on the morning of her disappearance.
Police also told the station they had cleared a person of interest in the case - a man who police said the teen was picking up the morning she vanished.
Before she was located, police had said a search of her cell phone "revealed evidence that she left alone and not under duress or coercion." Police haven't commented on whether Spindler was alone or with others when she was found in Mt. Pleasant.
