Mark Harmon stands up to cancer in new PSA
"NCIS" star Mark Harmon has been chosen as the latest ambassador for Stand Up To Cancer and ET got a behind-the-scenes look at the filming of his new Public Service Announcement to increase awareness about cancer immunotherapy.
In the PSA -- entitled "I Am My Own Secret Weapon" -- Harmon notes a new alliance between Stand Up To Cancer and the Cancer Research Institute, which have joined forces in one of the most promising new research areas -- the use of immunology to get the human body to utilize its own natural defenses to fight the disease.
"Cancer research is extremely important to me," the two-time Emmy nominee said. "I don't know anyone who hasn't been affected by cancer in some way or another. I'm here today to highlight the unbelievable work that CRI and SU2C are doing to advance the field of cancer immunology."
