Mark Cuban, Magic Johnson to bid on Dodgers
Two big names in basketball want a piece of baseball's most storied franchises.
The Los Angeles Times reports that Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban is interested in joining the bidding process for the Dodgers - a process that could begin as early as next week.
Cuban has expressed interest in buying the Dodgers before but balked last month when told the asking price was at least $1 billion. However, the terms of the sale have changed (namely, that Frank McCourt would sell the team and stadium but not the surrounding parking lots), so Cuban is crunching the numbers again
Cuban wrote to the Times that he "will take a look and determine if one impacts the other," Cuban wrote.
Meanwhile Laker icon Magic Johnson has also gone public with his interest in buying the team.
The Hall of Famer announced on Twitter that he has teamed with Mark Walter and former Braves and Nationals president Stan Kasten to make a bid on the team.
"I'm excited to have the opportunity to be part of the Dodgers legacy & bring a World Series championship back to LA," Johnson tweeted.
A group including former Dodgers Steve Garvey and Orel Hershiser has also expressed interest in buying the team.
