Mariska Hargitay, Size 8, No Apologies

(CBS) Mariska Hargitay, "Law & Order: SVU" star, says she's "proud" to be a size 8.

The 46-year-old actress, who plays the tough but tender cop who puts sex criminals behind bars, doesn't just play a woman with high self-esteem, she is one.

"I think I'm a very attractive person, but I don't put myself in the realm of the beauty," the 5'8" actress told More magazine in January. "That's not where I get my esteem. I'm a size 8, and I feel proud of that, because it's healthy. I've never felt compelled to be a skinny actress."

Hargitay is hardly in the plus-size category. And it's shocking that she needs to defend herself against her ultra-thin Hollywood peers.
