Mariah Carey delays release of new album

Mariah Carey isn't ready to release her new album just yet.

The singer and former "American Idol" judge was scheduled to release "The Art of Letting Go" on July 23, but now says she needs more time to work on it.

Carey shared the news with fans via Twitter on Monday night:

While making this album, I got so immersed in the creative process that I just don't feel I would be doing it justice to release it on 7/23.

I'd rather not exclude meaningful songs. I want to give you this album as it's meant to be heard.When I'm ready, you'll be the first 2 know!

She did not specify a new release date.

And while Carey's fans will have to wait a little while longer for the album, they can get by in the meantime by listening to "#Beautiful," her summer-worthy single featuring Miguel.
