Man whose son died in hot car arraigned

DANBURY, Conn. - A Connecticut man whose 15-month-old son was left in a hot car and died in July has been ordered to surrender his passport, stay in the state and not have unsupervised contact with his two other children.

Thirty-six-year-old Ridgefield resident Kyle Seitz was arraigned on a misdemeanor negligent homicide charge Wednesday in Danbury Superior Court. He didn't enter a plea and was released on a promise to return to court Nov. 21.

Seitz's lawyer and a prosecutor said Wednesday his wife recently moved the family out of state.

Police say Seitz was supposed to take his son, Benjamin Seitz, to day care July 7 but instead went to work and unintentionally left him in the car for more than seven hours. Temperatures that day hit the upper 80s.
