Man had hatchet, knife, brass knuckles at LaGuardia Airport, says TSA
NEW YORK -- A New York City man faces weapons charges after a hatchet, knife and brass knuckles were found in his carry-on bag at LaGuardia Airport Thursday morning, authorities said, according to CBS New York.
The man was arrested as he was passing through an airport checkpoint. The weapons were spotted by a Transportation Security Administration officer manning an X-ray machine, the station said.
"When asked about the items, he said that he uses them for self defense and for camping," TSA Spokeswoman Lisa Farbstein told 1010 WINS. "I don't know exactly which of the two he was thinking about when he was in LaGuardia."
Passengers who are unsure of what they can bring aboard a plane in either their carry-on or checked luggage are urged to download either the "myTSA app" or to check out the TSA website.
