Man fatally shot while carrying 1-year-old daughter on NYC street
NEW YORK - Authorities are looking for a suspect in the fatal shooting of a New York City man who was gunned down while carrying his 1-year-old daughter in his arms. The child sustained a minor injury.
Police said it happened around 1:20 p.m. Tuesday on a street in the Bronx borough of the city. Officers responding to an emergency call found the 21-year-old man, identified as Allen McQueen. He was taken to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Authorities said the gunman had approached and shot at McQueen, missing him. McQueen - holding his 1-year-old daughter - ran and the gunman fired again, hitting him in the back before fleeing in a car.
Witnesses said the child was picked up by an onlooker when McQueen fell. Police said she was released from the hospital with a bump on her head.
There have been no arrests but police believe McQueen was targeted, reports CBS New York.
Authorities have released surveillance video with the hope that it will help them identify a suspect. They say the suspect was seen driving off in a gray Mercedes-Benz.
Anyone with information on the crime is asked to call NYPD Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS.
