Man busted with 200 pounds of pot was Calif. deputy

YORK COUNTY, Pa. -- Investigators released a laundry list of items carried by a Northern California sheriff's deputy who was arrested on drug trafficking charges in Pennsylvania, according to CBS Sacramento.

According to the station, narcotics officers say 37-year-old Yuba County deputy Christopher Heath, who goes by Mark, was busted in eastern Pennsylvania on Dec. 28 and posted $1 million bond.

Heath was reportedly arrested while vacationing in York County where police say the deputy who works on the Yuba County drug and gang task force was found transporting 200 pounds of marijuana across the country.

The station reports drug officers also found thousands of dollars in cash and confiscated Heath's department-issued revolver and his badge. He has also been charged with suspicion of conspiracy to deliver a controlled substance and possession with intent to deliver.

York County District Attorney Tom Kearney says the bust was made during an undercover sting, but investigators didn't know Heath's background.

Two other suspects from Northern California were also arrested in the case, reports CBS Sacramento.

Heath has been placed on paid administrative leave.
