Man arrested after fatal stabbing at Virginia barbershop
VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. -- A man is dead and another is in jail after a stabbing at a Virginia barber shop, reports CBS affiliate WTKR.
Police say they were called to Members Barber and Beauty Salon in Virginia Beach Saturday night after receiving a call around 6:43 p.m. When they arrived, they found 35-year-old Derell Jovan Stephens suffering from severe stab wounds, a spokesperson told the station.
The victim was immediately transported to a local hospital, where he later died.
Suspect Edward Brooks, 45, was taken into police custody and charged with murder, according to WTKR. Both men were reportedly employees at the barber shop -- Brooks for ten years and Stephens for two.
Another employee told the station that the men started fighting. When he saw them fighting, he tried to break it up.
"They weren't arguing, nothing, it just happened," says Donnell Story. "We all work together, you never thought something like that would happen, we never have problems in here, never."
Brooks is currently being held in the Virginia Beach Correctional Center without bond.
