Mama "Precious" Gets Ticket To Fame On "America's Got Talent"

NEW YORK (CBS) "America's Got Talent" resumed in the Big Apple Tuesday night and it was a pretty "Precious" occasion.

Alice Tan Ridley, the 58-year-old mother of "Precious" star Gabourey Sidibe, brought the house down and earned a trip to Vegas after a soul-stirring rendition of the Etta James love classic "At Last." And, wow, what pipes she has.

"In terms of raw talent," Piers Morgan said, it was the "best audition of the day."

Making the moment more special was that Ridley had dreams of making it to the big stage and honed her chops through years of singing in New York City subway stations.

"Alice, millions of people must have gone back and forth on that subway over the 20 years," said a surprised Sharon Osbourne from the judging station after the crowd finally calmed down. "How come nobody signed you?"

"Thank you so much," replied Ridley, beaming from ear-to-ear.

Howie Mandel loved it, too."What an amazing voice" he added. "I love what you did and you deserve to be heard by much more than everybody on the train."

Looks as though "Mama Precious" just earned a one-way pass to stardom.
