Police say Maksim Gelman, 24, killed his stepfather Aleksandr Kuznetsov, 54, in the family's Brooklyn apartment. The murder allegedly happened after an argument about using his mother's car, reports CBS New York. Gelman then went to the home of a young woman he was reportedly obsessed with and this is where he killed her 56-year-old mother. He then waited hours for Yelena Bulchenko, 20, to return home and stabbed her 11 times.

But Gelman wasn't done. The 28-hour rampage continued with Gelman stabbing another man during a carjacking and then plowing into a 62-year-old pedestrian, who died. Gelman was finally caught when he slashed a rider on a Manhattan subway train, who happened to be a martial arts expert. The man took Gelman down and held him until cops arrived.

At the sentencing, Bulchenko's boyfriend began to tell the judge of his loss when Gelman interrupted and shouted obscenities at the man. The judge then temporarily ordered Gelman out of the courtroom.

"There's something going on upstairs with Mr. Gelman that kind of prevents him from controlling himself," said Gelman's lawyer, Edward Friedman.

On Tuesday, Gelman pleaded guilty to the subway slashing. He could receive an additional 25 years for that crime.
