(CBS News) While introducing his new movie "Magic Mike" at its Los Angeles premiere Sunday night, director Steven Soderbergh said people have called him brave for directing the R-rated look at the world of male strippers,

"The people that were in this movie were brave," he disagreed. "Really brave."

The movie, which debuted at the Los Angeles Film Festival, stars Matthew McConaughey, Channing Tatum, Alex Pettyfer, Matt Bomer, Joe Manganiello, Adam Rodriguez and Kevin Nash.

The story is loosely based on the experiences of its star Channing Tatum, who was a dancer in a Florida club in the 1980s when he was trying to break into show business.
