Madrid Open Becomes Gala

Spain's Gala Leon Garcia won her first WTA title, beating Fabiola Zuluaga of Colombia 4-6, 6-2, 6-2 in the Madrid Open Saturday.

Garcia, the No. 8 seed, needed 1 hour, 47 minutes, to earn her first title in nine years as a pro.

The key game came in the second set. Zuluaga was leading 2-0, but Garcia won the next six straight games to take the set. From then on, Zuluaga offered little resistance and appeared to lose her concentration.
