Madonna, Guy Ritchie continue custody battle over son Rocco
Madonna and ex-husband Guy Ritchie still have not come to a custody agreement over their son Rocco.
In New York, Justice Deborah Kaplan said Wednesday that she hoped the parents would come to a resolution that would "take this tremendous pressure off their son."
The case is transatlantic: Ritchie appeared in London court on Thursday for a preliminary hearing to address kidnapping charges the singer filed against him last year after their 15-year-old son, Rocco, stayed in London with his dad instead of returning to New York with Madonna after her European tour.
Justice Alistair MacDonald of the Family Division of the High Court in London said on Thursday that he hopes the two will come to an "amicable resolution," reports Page Six.
"It is highly unfortunate and deeply regrettable as Judge Kaplan said that this family dispute is being dealt with in front of her and in front of me, through the agencies of highly capable lawyers," said MacDonald.
Rocco is now attending high school in London. In December, Kaplan ordered him to return to New York for school. The judge has since changed her mind, saying it was in his best interest to stay in the U.K. for the time being, says People.
If Madonna and Ritchie cannot come to an agreement, there is a trial date set for June 1 in New York.
