Lindsay's Whirlwind Jail Stint

It was off to jail for Lindsay Lohan and then back on the street in 84 minutes, as the actress did her time for a drunken driving arrest.

Sheriff's spokesman Steve Whitmore says Lohan surrendered to the Los Angeles County women's detention center in Lynwood at 10:30 a.m. Thursday to serve a one-day sentence for drunken driving. She was searched, fingerprinted and placed in a holding cell in the inmate reception area but got to keep her street clothes.

She was released at 11:54 a.m.

Whitmore says Lohan met all criteria for reducing her sentence, including the fact that her offense was nonviolent.

He says Lohan got no special treatment, adding that the overcrowded lockup grants early release to some 30 to 50 women each day.

The 21-year-old actress was arrested earlier this year after crashing her Mercedes into a tree in Beverly Hills and later driving an SUV that chased the mother of Lohan's former personal assistant into Santa Monica.

In August, Lohan reached a plea deal on misdemeanor charges of drunken driving and cocaine possession that included a day in jail, community service and treatment.
