Lindsay Lohan's Dad Released From Prison

The father of actress Lindsay Lohan was released from a correctional facility Tuesday in New York, Linda Foglia a spokeswoman from the New York State Department of Corrections confirmed to The ShowBuzz.

Foglia confirmed that Michael Lohan was released early Tuesday from Collins Correctional Facility near Buffalo, New York. He had been incarcerated since June 30, 2005, for attempted assault in the second degree and aggravated unlicensed operation of a vehicle in the first degree.

The sentence was one and one-third to four years in prison.

The actress, who recently left rehab, and her father have reportedly been estranged for some time.

In a letter obtained by In Touch magazine in January, when she entered rehab, Michael told his daughter that he's proud of her for "taking back control of your life" and said that it's time for her "start anew."

He wrote that his daughter has a kind loving heart, "which is more valuable than the world has to offer."

He talked about what she would learn, presumably in rehab.

"Turning to God is the most important part of turning it all around. Living by the truth, God's principles and people who do the same. Make that searching moral inventory and 'clean house,' " he writes. "Then fill it with love, forgiveness and all that you know is right by God rather than man. People, places and things are huge factors Lindsay, remember that. Believe me, I know!"
