LaVar Arrington to ex-coach Sandusky: Apologize
Since the Penn State scandal broke, it came as no surprise that people would want to see how LaVar Arrington would weigh in. After all, the former Penn State All-American linebacker and ex-NFL star has his own radio show in D.C. and has never been shy about expressing his opinions.
Arrington was initially wary of passing judgment until learning all of the details of the alleged sex abuse. But now the former Nittany Lions star has changed his tune and turned up the volume, emerging as one of the most vocal critics of his former coach Jerry Sandusky - and his alma mater's coaching staff for how they handled the matter.
After Sandusky denied allegations that he molested children in the team's locker room, Arrington was vexed by the explanation. Specifically, Arrington was outraged that the former defensive coach never apologized to the people affected by the scandal and its fallout.
Special Section: The Penn State Scandal"You're pissed off because he has something to say, you're pissed off because he sounds like he's on something. You know what I'm pissed off about? He didn't say he was sorry to those kids. He didn't say he was sorry to the kids at Penn State. He didn't say he was sorry to the players, he didn't say was sorry to me, [to] us."
Arrington added: "If I'm making a statement, make that statement. [Say] I'm sorry that I affected these kids' lives and even if you're saying that you didn't do it, say 'I'm sorry that I affected your lives. Something I did affected or impacted your life and I'm sorry for that'."
Last week, in an emotional speech at a Penn State candlelight vigil, Arrington called the alleged sex abuse "the ultimate wake-up call" and a "call to duty."
