(CBS/AP) Lady Gaga is teaming up with Barneys for the luxury department store's 2011 holiday campaign.

The pop star and her team, including her stylist and Thierry Mugler creative director Nicola Formichetti, are going to reinterpret Santa's workshop and put it on display at the retailer's flagship Madison Avenue store in New York.

She'll get an entire floor and will take over the coveted windows starting in mid-November.

There will also be a collection of Gaga's Workshop gift items that will raise money for a charity of her choice.

"Lady Gaga is a rare cultural phenomenon, not only because of her exceptional talents as a singer, songwriter and performer, but also with regard to her support of equality and individuality and status as a fashion icon," said Mark Lee, Barneys New York CEO.

He continued: "Partnering with her in this unprecedented collaborative way to create the largest and most all-encompassing holiday theme that Barneys has ever mounted is a thrill. As a New York City landmark, we wanted to celebrate Lady Gaga as a fellow New Yorker and amazing talent."

Campaign visuals include a cartoon rendering of Gaga with long blue hair and a sparkly red jumpsuit, will be used to decorate shopping bags and other packaging, and will be featured on the company's website.

Barneys' typically nontraditional windows are a popular stop for holiday shoppers.
