Ladies' night at Olympics for Team USA
(CBS News) LONDON -- U.S. Gymnast Aly Raisman won gold for her floor exercise, but it was another Olympic medal that she almost didn't win that has been all the talk at the London Olympics.
Raisman and her coach were presented with a delicate balancing act after the gymnast's beam exercise.
In a split-second decision, they had to decide to whether to appeal a judge's scores that placed Raisman fourth in the event.
Their challenge won, and Raisman took the bronze medal away from a Romanian gymnast.
Sixteen-year-old Gabby Douglas came in seventh in the balance beam competition. After starting the Games as the new golden girl of gymnastics, winning the all-around gold, she fell off the bar in several individual events.

And track star Sanya Richards-Ross is sprinting toward a possible second medal at the Games. She came in first Tuesday in the semi-finals in the 200 meters, and races for gold Wednesday.
"I've been preparing for this mentally and physically leading up to these Games," Richards-Ross said, "and so I just keep thinking, 'This is your first race and have fun,' and I'm doing that. So I'm just really happy."
In the 100 meter hurdles, Lolo Jones finished a tenth-of-a-second too late to grasp her first Olympic medal, coming in fourth. Australia took gold, and America's Dawn Harper won silver.
"To make history -- it was great. When that gun went off," Harper said, "it was, 'Lord, I'm running for my life.' I clipped the hurdle, but it is what it is."
And in women's beach volleyball, Team USA is guaranteed gold and even before the first serve in the finals. April Ross and Jennifer Kessy are set to compete in the finals against fellow Americans and two-time defending Olympic champions Kerri Walsh Jennings and Misty May-Treanor.
"I'm proud again of how we came out we fought and we fought hard and we fought together," May-Treanor said. "I'm just speechless for once in my life! I think I'm speechless."
