Kristen Wiig, Bill Hader make fun of reporter in "Skeleton Twins" interview
Hollywood actors often find themselves in awkward interviews while promoting their films -- take Jennifer Aniston or Samuel L. Jackson as examples.
But a recent chat between Kristen Wiig, Bill Hader and a local Denver reporter may just take the cake as one of the most-cringe inducing back-and-fourths ever to unfold on live TV.
KWGN's Chris Parente spoke to the two former "SNL" stars about their new drama, "The Skeleton Twins," and it became obvious early on that the reporter had not prepared for the interview, nor had he even seen the film for that matter.
"Kristen, I am thinking on this program of doing the news completely full frontal, completely nude. Do you recommend that? And do you have advice for going nude?" Parente asked Wiig, who seemed flabbergasted by the question.
"Moisturize?" Wiig answered.
"You [get naked] in ['The Skeleton Twins']," Parente then said.
Wiig and Hader both quickly responded that Parente was mistaken and had in fact confused their film with another new drama starring Wiig, "Welcome to Me."
"Did you see this film, Chris?" Hader at several points asked the reporter, who did not respond.
"Chris, this is live. I just want to remind you that this is live. Everybody in Denver is going, 'What movie do we want to go see?' The movie that you want to go see is 'Skeleton Twins.' Kristen is fully clothed in it. I am fully clothed in it," Hader further clarified.
During the awkward exchange, Parente asked at several points if Muppets were in the film. He also admitted that his face was red from the interview and made fun of the fact that he is a five-time Emmy winner.
"Trust me, I will be seeing ['The Skeleton Twins'] when it opens in Denver," the journalist assured the stars, who didn't seem impressed.
"I'm just going to Google the movie to learn about 'Skeleton Twins,'" one of Parente's news anchor colleagues said following the interview.
Hader and Wiig star in the film as siblings who reconnect when they each face turmoil in their personal lives. Luke Wilson and "Modern Family" cast member Ty Burrell also star. The film has earned rave reviews and early awards buzz.
"The Skeleton Twins" is now playing in limited release.
