Earlier this month, Vanessa Bryant announced the plans for the memorial on Instagram. She pointed out the significance of the date: 2/24/20.
Gianna, who hoped to play for the WNBA someday, wore a No. 2 jersey and Kobe wore No. 24. The five-time NBA champion played his entire 20-season professional career at Staples Center.
A private funeral was held at Pacific View Memorial Park in Corona Del Mar on February 7, according to Entertainment Tonight.
This story has been updated to correct Gianna's age; she was 13, not 14.
