Kitten set on fire gets new home
NEWARK, N.J. A kitten that was set afire in Philadelphia earlier this year has a new home in New Jersey, reports CBS New York.
A woman identified only as "Kelly," adopted "Justin" last month.
Philadelphia officials said someone doused the kitten with an accelerant and lit him on fire in the street on April 25.
Justin was 4 to 5 weeks old when he suffered second, and third-degree burns over more than a third of its body, mostly on its head and back, his new owner said.
He underwent surgery to remove the burned and scarred skin. Kelly said the kitten has made a full recovery.
"He has a full, beautiful coat of fur. He is a very fuzzy, fluffy little boy," she told 1010 WINS.
"He has so much life in him and every day is just a new day full of adventures and just full of love and goodness. He is just the sweetest boy."
Kelly said Justin is not a victim, but a fighter.
"He pulled through this with just the best of spirits," she said.
Kelly has created a Facebook page called "Justin, Fire Survivor" documenting his life at his new home.
Officials are still offering a $6,000 reward for information leading to an arrest in the case.
