Kin of TV Producer's Slain Wife Demand Justice
An arrest appears imminent in the murder of Monica Beresford-Redman in Cancun, according to Mexican media.
The body of the 42-year-old Los Angeles restaurant owner and mother of two was found in a sewer at the Moon Palace Hotel two weeks ago. Police say she's been strangled.
The only suspect, apparently, is her husband, Bruce Beresford-Redman, 38, a former producer of "Survivor" and "Pimp My Ride."
The couple had gone to the romantic setting to work on their troubled marriage, reports CBS News Correspondent Bill Whitaker.
While police await DNA test results, Bruce has been ordered not to leave Mexico.
He remains the sole suspect, Whitaker says, and is said to have been having an affair.
Witnesses say the two were heard arguing the night before she disappeared, Whitaker adds.
And now, he says, Monica's distraught sisters are speaking out about her death.
An emotional Jeane Burgos told CBS News, "I am bleeding inside, because I can't even imagine that I'm not going to have her with me."
She and another sister, Carla Burgos, say they're desperate for answers.
Says Jeane, "I'm not going to sleep, and I'm not going to sit down until I bring justice to her life! … It was a brutal murder that was committed against my sister. A brutal murder!"
"That's what we want: justice," Carla says. "It wasn't fair for her."
"We are not going to sit and we are not going to rest until we bring justice to you!" Jeane promises Monica.
The day after Monica vanished, says Jeane, Bruce called her in California. "(He said) 'Monica's missing.' … And I said, What? Where are the kids?!' 'Oh, the kids are with me.' My sister would never leave the kids with him for a whole day. Ever!"
Monica's family has met with Mexican officials and prosecutors in the United States.
The family hopes to travel to Cancun soon to bring her body home.
But patience is wearing thin.
"It's been two weeks," points out Alison Triessl, an attorney for Monica's family. "Two weeks for a grieving family. One suspect. No arrest. Of course it's frustrating. It's very frustrating."
On "The Early Show" Tuesday, co-anchor Maggie Rodriguez spoke with CBS News legal analyst Jack Ford about the importance of Mexican authorities taking their time to get things right, and the possible involvement of investigators from the U.S.:
