Ken Block tears up Universal Studios in racecar
Advertising has gone "Back to the Future" thanks to Ken Block.
The rally driver famous for his closed-course automotive feats is at it again - this time on a frenetic race through every square inch of the Universal Studios lot in Studio City.
During the nine-minute "Hollywood Megamercial," Block drives his 2011 Fiord Fiesta (aka, Hybrid Function Hoon Vehicle) through famous tourist attractions, doing donuts around a Planet of the Apes extra on a segway, cruising within inches of a lunging robotic shark and crashing the filming of a Epic Meal Time cooking show.
And he does it all in the name of selling shoes (D.C. Shoes, to be exact). Oh, and a few well-placed sponsors (Monster energy drink, Ford, Mobil and Hot Wheels, to name just a few).
The video, directed by Ben Conrad (Zombieland and 30 Seconds or Less), promises a thrill ride of "pyrotechnics, massive stunts and a series of unbelievable tricks" - and it doesn't disappoint.
The high-octane stunts and slo-mo replays are bookended with a soundtrack that features Poison and a Bollywood dance.
Only in Hollywood.
