Oregon mom charged with killing 12-year-old son
KEIZER, Ore. — The mother of a 12-year-old boy has been charged with murder after authorities found the preteen boy’s body in an Oregon apartment, reports CBS affiliate KOIN.
Officials were called to the Keizer, Oregon apartment around 12:40 p.m. Saturday, where they found Caden Berry’s body. His mother, identified as 38-year-old Amy M. Robertson, was also at the scene and cooperated with police when they arrived. She was taken into custody and remains cooperative, authorities said.
Robertson faces a charge of aggravated murder and was booked into the Marion County Correctional Facility on Sunday morning without bail.
A neighbor who asked not to be identified told KOIN she saw Berry’s lifeless body moments after Robertson walked into the apartment building’s courtyard yelling “about demons.”
“I said, ‘Where’s your son?’ She said, ‘In the house under the blanket’....There was a recliner tipped over and he was halfway on it under a blanket,” she said. “I pulled the blanket back and I could tell he was gone.”
Robertson is expected to appear in court Tuesday.
