Keeping An Eye On Big Brother

The jury is still out on the overall ratings for the new CBS program Big Brother.

Big Brother premiered Wednesday night, and about 22.5 million people watched. Saturday's fourth episode was watched by about 6.5 million people. July weekends aren't big TV-watching times, and Saturday is traditionally the least-watched night of the week.

No wonder "Big Brother" is a flop. It's about 10 of the most excruciatingly boring bozos in the history of TV.

A CBS spokesman says when Big Brother aired in Europe, the
show got big ratings on the first night and tailed off after that. But ratings rebounded when people began to be voted out of the house.

CBS will show Big Brother five nights a week through September. Big Brother is a reality TV program that shows 10 strangers who move into a house equipped with 28 television cameras to record what they do.
