Katy Perry breaks Billboard chart record
(CBS) Katy Perry is now the most successful artist in the history of Billboard's Mainstream Top 40 chart. We'll spare you the this-is-a-teenage-dream-coming-true jokes, but now you know why you can't turn on a radio without hearing her.
With "Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)" hitting No. 1, that gives Perry five chart toppers on that chart from a single album ("Teenage Dream"), besting the four No. 1s Lady Gaga has from "The Fame" and the four for Justin Timberlake from "FutureSex/LoveSounds," reports The Hollywood Reporter.
Perry's other No. 1 singles from "Teenage Dream" are the title track, "California Gurls," "E.T." and "Firework." The Mainstream Top 40, which tracks pop radio airplay, has been in existence for almost 19 years.
