Kathy Bates set to join "American Horror Story" season 3 cast
Kathy Bates is said to be heading to "American Horror Story."
The actress is in talks to join the season three cast of FX's hit anthology series, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Bates is reportedly expected to play a "frenemy" to returning cast member Jessica Lange's character.
Lange won a Golden Globe in 2012 for her work on the series.
Bates also knows a thing or two about horror. The 64-year-old actress scored an Oscar for her role as a deranged fan in 1990's "Misery," so she should fit right in with this crew.
The premise and characters of "American Horror Story" change each season. The first season took place in a haunted house, while the second season was set at an insane asylum. No word yet on a location for season three, but the upcoming episodes are expected to take on a softer tone than in year's past.
"I feel like for the third version I want to do something that's a little bit more 'evil glamour,"' series co-creator Ryan Murphy told Entertainment Weekly back in January, ""We've got lots of delicious plans."
Production on the third season of "American Horror Story" is expected to begin this summer, with new episodes airing in the fall.
