Kate Winslet to receive honorary Cesar in Paris
(CBS/AP) PARIS - British actress Kate Winslet may have failed to snag another Oscar nomination for her role in Roman Polanski's clashing-couples film "Carnage," but she is not being ignored on the awards circuit.
The versatile 36-year-old actress is to receive an honorary Cesar award next month from organizers of the French equivalent of the Academy Awards.
Winslet already owns an Oscar (with six nominations) and has two of the U.K.'s equivalent of Best Actress Oscars from the BAFTA (with five nominations). Two of those awards were for the "Titanic" actress' work in the 2008 film "The Reader."
She will be getting the Cesar at the red-carpet ceremony on Feb. 24. France's Academy of Cinematic Arts and Techniques announced nominations for the 37th Cesar Awards ceremony on Friday.
Child-protection drama "Polisse" led with 13 nominations, while silent, black-and-white film "The Artist" garnered 11. "The Artist" also is a frontrunner for a Best Picture Oscar on Feb. 26.
France's National Cinematic Center has said French movie theaters sold 211 million tickets last year a 45-year high, and a 4-percent increase from 2010.
