Iowa teen reportedly abducted by suspects in SUV

WINFIELD, Iowa --A southeastern Iowa teen was reported abducted Friday night by three suspects in an SUV, according to sheriff's officials.

The Henry County Sheriff's Office says Karyn Renee Mehaffy, 16, was abducted just before 8 p.m. Friday from a street in Winfield. The teen remained missing Monday.

The victim's mother told KWQC that her daughter was with her 17-year-old cousin at the school park Friday. The two reportedly crossed the street, heading for home, when the blue SUV pulled up and Mehaffy was abducted.

Elizabeth Mehaffy told the station that her daughter's cousin tried to run after her as Karyn was kicking and screaming.

Sheriff's officials say she may be with Wilfredo Martinez Gonzalez. Elizabeth Mehaffy told the station her daughter once wanted to be in a relationship with him.

The reported abduction didn't meet the criteria for an Amber Alert, officials said.

Karyn Mehaffy is described as five feet, three inches tall and heavyset with died blond hair, blue/green bangs, and blue eyes. She was last seen wearing green jeans and a black sleeveless tee shirt.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Henry County Sheriff's Office at 319-385-2712.
